Exploring Florida by RV while Lucy III is stored in Vermont

FT. MYERS / PINE ISLAND KOA HOLIDAY,  Pine Island, FL

Today we drove down to Marco Island to see the Florida West Coast southernmost developed island.  Marco Island is well developed from a first rate marina to beautiful homes on myriad canals to large and glamorous beachfront hotels and condominiums.  We started out with the harbormaster's office for the South passage.  It consisted of a office, small store and boat ramp and a great view of the waterway.  Most of our time was spent exploring the main Gulf of Mexico facing beach.  The clear blue waters contrasted with the wide white sand beach.  The beach was covered with seashells.  There were also a lot of seabirds.  There were not many people on this fantastic beach.

FT. MYERS / PINE ISLAND KOA HOLIDAY,  Pine Island, FL

We set out early for the tennis courts this morning and beat the pickle-ball players.  Later we went off to explore more Pine Island hiking trails.  We saw a small rabbit and the same yellow crowned night heron we had seen two days ago.  This time Sue had her camera ready.

Great blue heron.

butterfly or colorful moth.
