Chambly Docks

The second flight of locks in Chambly (Locks numbered 4 through 8) greeted us on this rather gray and rainy day.
We slept at the Upper Chambly Basin next to the shops, restaurants and the Maxi supermarket. Everything is a short walk away even the two ice cream shops and the local chocolatier. Most of the lock attendants were people we had met on our Northbound trip. There was a mink fishing in one of the locks and he was successful. Unfortunately minks are very fast and difficult to photograph.
Each lock has a small house for the lock attendants.

This modern drawbridge marks the end of the Chambly Canal in St John. Note the sailboat in travel mode likely headed South for the winter.
Our next stop was the US Customs and Border Patrol Dock at Rouses Point.
Unfortunately the place was deserted. Remains of Fort Montgomery in the distance.
The uninhabited trailer. The contact information is on this board and on a small very slow computer in a separate enclosure. Both were difficult. Eventually the CBP Roam App. worked after several phone calls.
The Captain of the vessel is responsible for making nearly all border crossing arrangements.
The last leg of the voyage from Rouses Point, New York to The Hillman dock in South Hero, Vermont. 25 nautical miles. "Tutta Bella" handled the 2-3 foot waves from the South easily and rather comfortably.
