Tomoka State Park
Ormond Beach, Florida
Marc- We headed South to Cape Canaveral this morning and started with Cocoa Beach. Our first stop was the best one of the day at the "I Dream of Jeannie" Beach. This public beach is first rate. It's beautiful, has lifeguards, a bath house, bathrooms, a hardwood hammock park and plenty of free parking.

On our way North we visited Port Canaveral including the marina and lock. This is an extensive container ship port as well as Cruise ship port.

Sailboats are well represented at the Port Canaveral Marina.
Our next stop was the Cocoa Beach Pier in a more touristy part of town. We decided not to pay $15.00 for parking and found a spot on a nearby street. The Pier is a commercial venture currently being renovated. When complete it will have many small shops and several restaurants. We did walk out and found a spot to sit on a bench to enjoy lunch. A woman walked up just as we were finishing and told us bringing your own food was not permitted on the Pier. We apologized and left. The views from the Pier were nice.

We returned by way of Route 1 and stopped in New Smyrna at the Dairy Queen and walked at the Town Park beside the Intracoastal Waterway. This town caters to boaters with a downtown Marina and extensive anchorage area next to the Town Park.
One unfortunate boat beside the New Smyrna dinghy dock. It looks like a smaller Freedom sailboat with a carbon fiber mast. Someone abandoned the boat in a hurry leaving the winch handle in place.
