Marc- Our campsite is small and squished between other campsites (and there is a giant forest here to make campsites out of) but it’s ok; the only problem is that our site’s circuit breaker trips from time to time.  Sue goes over to a nearby campsite that has all of the breakers for this part of the campground and does the reset.  All I can see is that the electric water heater, fridge and a.c. units may be too heavy a power draw if all start up at once.  The solution seems to be switching the water heater over to propane mode.  Unfortunately our fridge does not have a propane mode.  When we’re on the road the refrigerator is supposed to be working off the batteries and the solar panel, but it’s not.  The manual is not helpful in this regard.

Today was a day for local exploration with the family.  We gathered at the front gate of the campground to set off for the day.  We arrived early since this is the only part of the campground with WIFI and cell phone service.  There is a small store at the gate with a few picnic tables.  This is where everyone makes their calls and goes on line.  We’ve done our blog updates here and made a few calls.

The real fun began when we set off for a day use site in the Olympic National Forest.  Breanna found an excellent site on Lake Cushman near the Mt. Rose trailhead and near waterfalls.  The site had a picnic table and beach for our use.  Andre brought all sorts of inflatable toys including paddle boards, Kayak and floats.  The water was around 70 degrees for excellent swimming.  Sue and I hiked up the Mt. Rose trail until the heat got to us.  This was supposed to be an easy hike per one guide map:  only 131 foot rise.  In fact Mt. Rose is 4,131 feet and the climb is quite steep after a rather easy mile at the beginning.  The trail was wonderful at first rising gradually and passing to beautiful waterfalls.  Then the many switchbacks began each increasing in grade.  We did seven switchbacks before arriving at a giant moss covered rock and calling it enough.  We spent most of the day in the waters of Lake.   In the evening we all gathered at Isaac and Sabra’s rental house for dinner and a surprise birthday party for Breanna.
