Carnivorous Yellow Pitcher Plant at Carolina Beach State Park.

Marc-  We're starting off with a missed photo from yesterday of another bug eating plant at Carolina Beach State Park.  We departed at 06:15 to make sure we were not stuck in the mud in our inner slip and to get a favorable current through Snow's Cut.  We were successful at both.  The advantage to an early departure is no sun in your eyes as you head East in the ICW (at least for awhile).  Snows Cut is a ditch dug to connect the Cape Fear River to Carolina Beach and its waterways.  We held on to the favorable current until we reached the first ocean inlet (Carolina Beach Inlet).  We went back and forth with currents as we passed ocean inlets all day.  The wind was very helpful at a steady 10-15 knots from the South.  We covered 45 nautical miles today before anchoring with several other boats here at Mile Hammock Bay.  So far there have been no military exercises.

Now this is my kind of marina.

A very small island on the ICW at Surf City.

Interesting beach houses (most all beach homes in North Carolina have three floors).

We are the red triangle.
