Sunset from last night at Camp Lejeune.

Storms that somehow missed us last night.

Marc-  We survived to sail another day.  The nasty thunder storms never arrived.  We did have winds up to 30 knots overnight and at least one boat dragged its anchor.  One catamaran alongside us dragged 300 feet.  Luckily the wind direction never changed overnight.

This morning we were up and pulling the anchor shortly after 06:00.  The anchor came up without problems even though it was dug in well.  Our goal was to reach and pass the Onslow Beach Bridge, which is operated by the Marines, that only opens at the top of each hour.  We succeeded in getting through at 07:00.   We had an excellent motorsail with 10-15 knot winds from the South.  We averaged 6.5 knots on our 38 mile journey to Beaufort Harbor.  The dock hands were excellent in assisting us in tying up despite heavy current with an incoming tide. The public docks are right downtown with all the shops and restaurants.  The Dockmaster also has two loaner cars available for visitors who need to get supplies at a distance.  We took advantage of this twice.
