Cross Country Adventure 2022 (day 7)

 Billings, Montana KOA, Billings, MT

21 July 2022

Marc-  Today we again headed West on Route 90 passing through more of South Dakota (where the National Historic missile site is), a significant portion of Wyoming, and part of Montana.  We passed through the Black Hills into further grasslands. Once in Wyoming we transitioned into red earth, a gradually more arid climate of rolling hills of mostly sagebrush, an occasional oil well, natural gas wells and then a large open pit coal mine.  This is not what we expected from the State's welcome sign.  The scenery improved greatly once we saw the edge of the still partially snow covered Rocky Mountains.  We went on to Montana with more green vegetation on the rolling hills and several rivers.  Billings is a rather large city with a mix of beautiful rock cliffs along the Yellowstone River and then several oil refineries along with mining facilities.

Our last view of a South Dakota Prairie Dog.

Several Missile sites in ND have been deactivated.

Wyoming's red earth.

One of many oil wells in Wyoming (Is this one of yours Fred?).

An open pit coal mine in Wyoming.

Welcome to Montana.

Billings Campground.

Could this be an early Chevy Silverado?
