Marc- Once again I have combined two days into one entry. Day one was spent with our usual walks and working on boat projects. The main project is getting the boat ready for the new air conditioning unit. To that end we hired Dave the diver to come and plug the frozen seacock that we would be using for the cooling intake. I handed Dave a plug that he applied while he cleaned the boat bottom. When finished Dave commented that we had a "Teflon finish on our hull" since it was very smooth and whatever growth was present just came off with a gentle swipe. This is incredibly good news since our boat uses VC17, a product designed for fresh water use such as Lake Champlain. I completed the connection of the new ball valve and no leaks were present. Unfortunately, when preparing some food for the evening, we experienced a hot water line blow out under the galley sink.
In the evening we were invited once again to dinner at Michael and Doreen's boat for dinner and a viewing of another New York Rangers vs. Boston Bruins hockey game. It went well for the Bruins despite lots of fighting resulting 0-1.
Today started of with a very nice walk to Sombrero Beach. We even walked in the waves keeping in mind a warning sign to look out for Portuguese Man-o-war jellyfish. We never saw any in the water and only one washed up on the beach. The water was a good 10 degrees warmer than last week. Speaking of warm water, I found the blown hot water line and replaced that last section of the 1970's dairy line used (it did last a good 50 years). The blowout was only accessible by removing the built in refrigerator.
Tonight we are invited by Ann Gilmartin over to the Blackfin Marina and Hotel Resort for a Mexican dinner. Ann has come from Arizona to visit the Keys, including another National Park (Dry Tortugas). She has been to 320 National Parks and Monuments to date!
