CODA : Living the life in the Exuma Islands, Bahamas.

Sand Dollar Beach mooring field (#42), Elizabeth Harbour, Georgetown, Great Exuma Cay, Bahamas
The forecasted winds have arrived.
Marc- The day started off partly sunny with 12 knot Easterly winds. This had little effect on us tucked in near Sand Dollar Beach attached to mooring ball #42. Sue and I took our morning walk exploring new trails on the southern end of Stocking Island. We finished off the exercise with scanning the beaches for sand dollars. All we found were broken fragments. A group of tourists were out on one beach on a guided tour and some of them came back with sand dollars.
Our cross island trail brought us to this view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Notice the spray from the waves crashing on shore.

This is an AIS overview of where many boats are holed up to wait out these days of heavy winds. Remember this indicates only boats with AIS transmitters. There are 327 boats anchored here in Elizabeth Harbor today. The wind is out of the northeast at 25 knots as I type this up tonight. We have experienced some periods of rain but mostly just cloudy skies. Back in New England we would call this a mild nor'easter.
Elvis the water taxi man came to pick us up at Coda to go over to Exuma Market to meet up with our friend John who was flying in today. The water taxi picked up passengers from various beachfront bars. Once the boat was full we were off across Elizabeth harbor at full speed. The 250 horsepower outboard pushed the water taxi at about 50 miles per hour (water taxis seem to only have one speed - full throttle). We got to the Exuma Yacht Club pier in very little time.
John called just before we pulled in saying he was waiting outside the store. He had no difficulty with the flight or with Customs. Luckily I had sent him a copy of The Bahamas Customs Department Temporary Cruising Permit for Coda since he was asked where he was staying / what he was doing here.
Our friend John on the wet and wild ride back across Elizabeth Harbor.
His luggage was protected in the black trash bag. Sue and I were protected in our foul weather gear.
And there goes Elvis in his water taxi.
