CODA STILL HERE IN THE BAHAMAS 2025 (43)

CODA : Living the life in the Exuma Islands, Bahamas.

22 February 2025

Sand Dollar Beach mooring field (#42), Elizabeth Harbour, Georgetown, Great Exuma Cay, Bahamas

Our friend John Gilmartin is here: let the fun begin.

Marc-  The wind was still blowing over 20 knots this morning but reportedly would abate somewhat by nightfall.  A little wind would not stop us.  We set off at low tide in our quest to find sand dollars at Sand Dollar Beach of all places.  We were successful (we got 3) by wading out in the shallow sand at low tide.  With the number of beach goers around here the beaches are swept clean.  We continued our quest with a walk over to the ocean side of Stocking Island.  Unfortunately the ocean wave were pummeling the coastal beaches and reefs.  There would be no sand dollars over here.

French boat crew having fun at Sand Dollar Beach (that's their 65 foot Oyster Sloop in the distance).

Sue and John in the quest for the elusive sand dollars.

This cut was a warning that the ocean side of the island would be rough.

7 foot waves breaking on the beaches and reefs.

John taking it all in.

We found a beach house we can afford.

John treated us to lunch at the the Snappy Turtle (St. Francis Resort).  The conch burgers and chocolate ice cream were very good.  Fish were still plentiful at the Blue Hole #0 cave.  We stopped over at Chat 'N' Chill for the Variety.  It was not good.

Lots of friendly feral cats around here.

Variety show on stage and kids in trees.

This should win first place in the sand castle competition.

John returns to Coda after a swim.
