Well this was unexpected but a nice lunch spot at River Dunes Marina in Oriental, NC.

Marc-  We left Beaufort at 06:45 and headed over by the Duke University Marine Labs and NOAA.  Our friend Dan Sheehy worked there for a time.  They seem to have a new research vessel as well as  excellent facilities here in Beaufort.

Our passage North through the ICW by way of Adams Creek went well with favorable current.  It was a different picture when we arrived on the Neuse River and headed for Pamlico Sound with wind of 15-20 knots out of the North and 2-3 foot seas building and a contrary current.  We were only making 4 knots and bouncing around a lot but staying dry.  As we progressed for the turn Westward in Pamlico Sound, Michael called in with a new weather report of advancing severe thunderstorms.  I checked the radar and we could see them coming from behind us.  We decided to stop short and head in to River Dunes Marina in a man-made harbor with complete protection that was not far off our route. Fortunately the storms mostly went South of us.  We did not get the full thunderstorm effects until evening when having dinner.  The morning forecast had been for a slight chance of thunderstorms later in the afternoon and light winds.
