Huntington Beach State Park

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

Brookgreen Gardens:  Horse in Bronze.

Marc-  Today we returned to visit Brookgreen Gardens (one ticket is good for a week) twice.  Our morning visit took us to the extensive Rodin sculpture exhibit.  Rodin was a 19th century French sculptor and Europe's most famous sculptor at he beginning of the 20th century.  His work is found in museums and galleries all over the world.  His largest piece at this exhibit is "The Burghers of Calais," a 6 person monument to the leaders of Calais, France who surrendered themselves for execution to the British conquerers during the 100 years war in return that the citizens be spared.  Luckily the Queen of England intervened and the lives of the Burghers were spared.

We actually spent most of our time walking about the extensive gardens and the paths throughout the property.  A celebration of color is present now as many flowers are beginning to bloom especially, the azaleas.
