CODA BAHAMAS BOUND 2024-2025 (13)

CODA : Last day in Atlantic Highlands

7 October 2024

Atlantic Highlands Harbor, Atlantic Highlands,  New Jersey

Another Atlantic Highlands sunset.

Marc-The cold weather front passed in the very early morning hours with a shower and a large degree wind change from Southwest to Northwest.  The Northwest winds have been increasing all day to 10-15 knots with some 20 knot gusts. The winds will diminish slightly tomorrow morning but will remain Northwest which is a very favorable direction for traveling down the Jersey shore.  Michael and I started the day off with a morning jog up First Avenue, the town's main business street, checking out what shops we would like or need to stop at later in the day.  Unfortunately the Laundromat, that was here when we visited in 2020 and  was close to the marina, has closed.  Most of the remaining shops are still here including an excellent auto/marine parts store, a large hardware store, a supermarket, and most importantly an ice cream parlor.  Our plan is to depart early tomorrow morning.

Nicholas Ice Cream parlor (locally made small batch ice cream (both soft serve and traditional hard)

View of the homes on shore from our mooring
(the "highlands" are a series of hills such as this one leading to the sea).
